Stacey achieves her goals in life, with the help of passport

Stacey heard about Passport from her Through Care and After Care worker at the Close Support Unit where she was accommodated. She began working with Passport in June 2008, and was keen to gain some qualifications.
It was Stacey's dream to get to college, but she didn't know how she could get there.

Stacey began working on getting qualifications straight away, and to gain some experience and confidence she completed a Traineeship with the Edinburgh Playhouse. After this, Stacey decided that she enjoyed working with people, and always wanted to know what it would be like to work in the beauty therapy industry.

Stacey then completed the Access to Industry Extreme Makeover Course and 'loved it'. She attended well and gained even more confidence and skills to help take her forward.

Stacey then moved from her close support unit to a Young Person's Centre, which was a difficult transitional time for her. After completing the EMO course, Stacey was unsure what path she would like to take next.

Over a couple of sessions, Stacey spoke with her Passport caseworker about what things interested her, and about what she had always dreamed of doing. She explained she had always wanted to work with children, but never had the qualifications to do this.

With support from Passport, Stacey applied to the North Edinburgh Childcare Academy, and successfully passed the interview stage.

She has completed the four week training period and has begun working on her SVQ in Childcare. She has been on placement in a nursery for the last month and is finally where she has always wanted to be.

Stacey said:
"I have achieved my goals in life. I have now got confidence to meet new people and do the things I want to do. Passport has really helped me be successful, and I am really looking forward to the future."
